Smokers Dealt a Further Blow!
Calls have been made today to ban the sales of the smaller packs of 10 cigarettes and sales through vending machines to try and curb the uptake of the habit from young smokers. This is part of the British Medical Associations drive to make cigarettes a lot more inaccessible to children.
Plans also include introducing a licensing scheme for shops which sell tobacco, similar to alcohol licensing and the Government have also announced that in October the age limit will be raised from 16 to 18.
There have also been calls that taxation on all tobacco products should be standardised and increased at higher than inflation rates to reduce the affordability and therefore availability of cigarettes.
This could be good news for the Snuff Tobacco industry as smokers look for a suitable alternative, however, I wouldn't imagine that it would be long before large taxes are applied to nasal snuff, should it take off.
