Snuff's the Stuff in The Devonshire Arms

I have just come across an interesting article where the landlady of the Devonshire Arms in Bedford has had the innovative idea of offering a pinch of snuff tobacco when you order a pint.

Hoping that this will be a good substitute for smoking when the smoking ban comes in July, she now stocks a range of snuffs including chocolate, honey and cherry.

Valerie Walter said, "We thought the pinch 'n' pint promotion would be a bit of fun - I don't imagine many people will be taking it up long-term," said Walter.

Advice to other licensees: "Look at all the options - the snuff idea might work, especially when the winter months come in.”

Well, lets hope other landlords and landladies follow suit and offer similar promotions to keep the nicotine craving crowd in the pubs and hopefully avoid a downturn in business by offering other snuff incentives.
