Dholakia Snuffs
Has anybody tries these wonderfully exotic snuffs from India? I have done and thought I'd give you my opinion. I believe they are available from a few online shops now but I requested some free samples from their website, which came sewn into a canvas bag. I've gotta admit never received a package like it!
I received 5 different types which I believe is their full range.
Chakli (green): Plain flavouring, extremely fine, decent nicotine. 6/10
Chakli (blue): As above with a slight menthol touch 6/10
Ganga: Extremly fine as they all are, finer than any English snuff, and what can only be described as like being in a spa. There's a lot of citrus, and flowery scents and something which I can't quite place, but it has a pleasant flavour which lasts a very long time. Different to any other scented snuff I've ever had. 8/10
Kamal: Another fine ground snuff, and very strong sweet floral taste. Definately different. 7/10
Manjul: Last but not least my absolute favourite of all these snuffs. Again extremely fine, but a very strong mint, clove and spice taste. Wonderful! Similar to De Kralingse Pompadour, but a lot finer. Absolutely marvellous when you have a nice cold pint in one hand and a nose full of this. Lovely! 10/10
Just wondered if anybody else has tried them, and if not do so. They are utterly different to European snuffs and a must try.
P.s Hope Snuffman has settled down a bit better, and everybody else is still enjoying the Holy Dust.

Dholakia Snuff
hi Stefan,
I see you have indulged in the wonderful world of Southern Asian snuff, and it is indeed a unique set of flavours that they are producing.
These are distinctly different from the European snuffs and I think people will either love them or hate them.
Personally my favourite was the Manjul snuff, which took me back to my days travelling in India. Whilst I found that some of them were a little too 'floral' for me, they are indeed an experience that all snuffers should try.
The hand sewn package was also a nice touch I thought. I am looking in to adding these snuffs to the Snuff Supermarket and was sent a sample of about 10 other of their snuffs, which range from Vanilla, Sandalwood, chocolate, coffee, although I am not sure if they are ready for the market yet.
I have set Dholakia up as a manufacturer on the Snuff Reviews section so feel free to add your reviews there.
You can read my intial thoughts on this on my blog from a while ago: http://snufftobacco.co.uk/indiansnuff
thanks for you concern as well and I can say that I am starting to settle down a little, if not entirely, in the Big Smoke now!

Manjul!
Manjul!
When we did an order (to Canada - we bulk order) we included a packet of Indian Manjul. Fantastic experience.
At first you have it and think. hmmm. that's different. did we bring snuff tobacco to India and someone thought it needed some turmeric in it or something?! then have it again. and again. its just so DIFFERENT, but great. It is a fine snuff but does have some stick. The Irish Toast (or Menthols) are different in a very different way. I wouldn't have this all the time, but is a delite for something different, really! Plus, Manjul! seems like a 'Cheers' of sorts. So Manjul! (ps. it was a random choice and glad we got this one).
