You left out "the boxcar method" Wrap your index finger around the end of your thumb. Tap a little mound of snuff onto your thumbnail. Sniff. The little sheltered depression of your thumbnail works very well in the wind. It is also a good method to know if you want to take a pinch without contaminating your snuff when your hands are dirty!
