Black Rapee
This snuff has put itself forward as one of my potential "desert island snuffs". It is, at the very first, a little like snuffing chocolate sponge pudding. Give it a little time, however, and smokey, biscuity flavours soon make themselves apparent, but in a really unique, warm and chocolatey way. There are other coarse ground snuffs which are similar in their mechanical properties, such as Wilsons' Brunswick or the Kralingse snuffs, but these have strong flavours that can be over powering. SG Black Rapee, however, has the unobtrusive quality of a really great everyday snuff.
I, for one, can not isolate any particular perfumes on this snuff, but this may be because it is so unusual in being a very coarse ground and moist snuff, but it is none the less compelling. As an important side note, however, I would say that it is noteable that this snuff is something of a midway between snuff and dip, in that it has a particular nicoteine "sting" that dippers will be familiar with (but in the nose rather than the gum), but also in that, if one should let it enter the throat, it is nasty as hell. And I do mean really nasty. Prompt nose blowng is important with this one.
