Dipping tobacco is really not common in England at all, in fact it has been banned in many European countries (not sure if England is one of them but I've never come across anyone who uses it) Here is what Wikipedia says about it: "Given the risk of mouth cancer and a fairly low usage outside of North America and the Nordic countries, several countries have banned the sale (and in some cases the import) of dipping tobacco. Sale of dipping tobacco was banned in Australia and New Zealand in 1986 [26] and in most of the EU nations in 1992 [27]. Sweden was exempted from this ban because of the traditionally high usage of snus in that country" As it says above its not really widely used anywhere except the states and countries like Sweden, Norway etc Most tobacco users in the UK smoke cigarettes & cigars. Some smoke pipes too but very few use nasal snuff and I have no idea if any use dipping tobacco or if its even legal...sorry!

Hey mate I dip. I live in Canada. I dip Skoal berry, straight, and mint if I'm not at home. I snuff Copenhagen as well. It is considered snuff because it is fine cut (and VERY hard to dip), but it is American snuff (moist) as opposed to Europian snuff which is dryer. I dip a lot. I started in July and was up to one tin a day to one and a half a day very quickly (3 months), and I hadn't ever smoked habitually. A tin of straight (highest nicotine /gram). I still dip, but snuffing you can do more publically, as you don't need to spit brown juice out every minute or so. I also like snuff because it regulated how much I can do at a time which is quite beneficial, because a horse shoe dip takes a lot of tobacco. Yipee for smokeless tobacco!!

Although their is an EU ban on Dip and Snus I technically buy Snus directly from Sweden I live in London. Snus is being introduced to America as we speak and you can get Camel Snus, Marlboro Snus and Skoal now make snus. Dip is not really used here. A lot of Americans confuse Snus with Dip and so did the EU doctors and Snus is not as harmful as Dip, Snuff or chewing tobacco. Snus is a moist tobacco that is commonly used in pouches that look like skoal bandits. The difference to dip is that it is used in the top lip just to the left or right of the front teetch. Snus is by far the safest form of smokeless tobacco. The tobacco unlike american smokeless tobacco and english snuff it steam cured not fermented so does not produce the harmful level of nitrosmines attributed to oral cancer. this is why I snus I dont dip, chew or snuff. I do occasionally smoke a pipe however. The american snus that is now on your shelves is not manufactured like Swedish snus and still carries the cancer warning. This may change as 'Swedish Match' the biggest snus company in sweden have formed a joint venture with Phillip Morris and are looking to puch swedish snus all over America. Its a different experience to dip as you dont need to spit and the buzz is stong. American Snus such as Camel is 6mg of vitamin N, whereas I use General Extra Sterk 15mg. So went from 2 packs of marlboro per day red to 6 portions of snus per day. So thats
