SPI
This snuff used to be available in small tins at most tobacconists. In South Yorkshire it was used as the staple snuff diet of the miners, who of course, could not smoke underground. It was the snuff that I first used and has for me, an immediately distinctive and evocative scent. Unlike most SP's the top note is not bergamot or citrus but a wonderful light ginger scent. Of course, it develops a classic citrus note and eventually gives a character of sweet tobacco but the ginger tone is always there. I still love it. It is easy on the nose and a pleasent strength. The only problem I have is that the very elegant large tins in which some tobacconists sell it have occasionally lost their air-tight seal. Otherwise although it lacks the exotic name and exclusivity of some brands it is a very fine experience.
