All good things in life develop with time and snuff is no exception with secret recipes being developed for hundreds of years. There are, however, a few ground rules to every good snuff recipe:

• Select Quality Tobacco
  As with any product, the better the raw materials, the better the product, so to ensure a rich blend only the finest tobacco leaf is selected and blended.
• Leave to Mature and Dry
• Grind
  Using either traditional water power or driven by machines the tobacco is ground by pestles to the required level (coarse, medium or fine)
• Sieve
  Repeatedly sieve the ground powder to leave a consistent, smooth grain size.
• Add Natural Oils and Fragrances
  Using recipes handed down from generation to generation of snuff manufacturers, this is when the oils are added, that give each snuff its overriding character and signature.
• Leave to Mature
  This ensures the snuff is left with a full bodied flavour and brought up to the required moisture content (moist, medium or dry)
